How AXON Pi Keeps Your Data at Home — And Why It Matters
When you ask a cloud AI assistant to manage your inbox, something happens that most people don't think about: your emails — all of them — are transmitted to a server owned by a technology company, processed by their systems, and potentially retained for model training, debugging, or legal compliance. That's not a conspiracy theory. It's in the terms of service.
AXON Pi works differently. Here's exactly how.
What "Local AI" Actually Means
"Local AI" means the AI model itself runs on hardware in your home — in this case, the Raspberry Pi 5 inside your AXON Pi device. When you send AXON Pi a task, the language model that interprets your request and generates a response runs entirely on that hardware. Your request never travels to a cloud server for processing.
What Data Stays on Your Device
The following data is processed and stored only on your AXON Pi device:
- All messages you send to AXON Pi
- Your email content (when you connect your inbox)
- Your calendar events and appointments
- Your task history and preferences
- Any financial data you authorise AXON Pi to access
None of this data is transmitted to Clawbox servers, third-party AI providers, or any external service unless you explicitly instruct AXON Pi to take an action that requires it (for example, booking a restaurant requires sending your reservation details to the restaurant's booking system).
What Does Leave Your Network
To be transparent: AXON Pi does communicate with external services in specific, limited ways:
- Software updates: AXON Pi periodically checks for and downloads system updates from Clawbox servers. These requests contain only your device's version number — no personal data.
- Task execution: When AXON Pi performs a task that requires interacting with an external service (booking a flight, sending an email, placing an order), it communicates with that service on your behalf. This is equivalent to you doing it yourself.
- WhatsApp/SMS delivery: Messages sent to your phone travel through the standard WhatsApp or SMS infrastructure.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
In 2024, several major AI companies updated their terms of service to explicitly allow the use of user conversations for model training. In 2025, multiple high-profile data breaches exposed the personal information of millions of cloud AI users. The regulatory environment is tightening — but enforcement lags years behind the technology.
The only reliable way to protect your personal data from AI systems is to keep it off their servers in the first place. That's what AXON Pi does by design.
Who Should Care Most
Privacy-first AI matters most to people who use AI for genuinely sensitive tasks: managing financial accounts, handling confidential business communications, storing health information, or simply preferring not to have their personal life indexed by a technology company. If that's you, AXON Pi was built for you.
